Canyon

There are two different types of Canyon bike rentals available in Girona- the Canyon CF7 Etap, and the Canyon CF SL8.

Canyon CF7 Etap

Top Road Cycling Routes Near Girona

Any of the road bikes listed above are suitable bike rentals for a cycling holiday in Girona, especially if you plan on doing some of the most famous routes like the El Angels climb, or the coast loop.

Els Angels Climb

Beginning directly in the city of Girona, the Els Angels climb is one of the most popular climbs made famous by Lance Armstrong.

The climb itself is about 10 km in total. Once you summit Els Angels, follow the road down the steep descent to Madremanya. You'll be happy that you have those disc brakes to give you maximum control on the tight turns.

Stop off in Madremanya to explore the old medieval town that is largely left unchanged from 500 years ago. When you're ready to get back on the path, turn on to Carretera Madremanya, you're able to loop back around to Girona without doing any other intense climbs, so you can just enjoy the stunning scenery of the Costa Brava.

The Coastal Loop

This route also begins directly in Girona. Initially, you bike south through several smaller towns on your way to discover the sparkling coast of Spain. After about 31 km into the ride, you will begin to climb the switchbacks of Carratera de Sant Llorenç a Sant Grau.

Follow this to merge onto the GI 682 that will take you along the hilly coastline until reach Sant Antoni de Cologne when you'll begin the loop back to Girona through la Bisbal d'Empordà.

Gravel & MTB Biking in Girona

Although Girona is mostly celebrated for its road biking routes, it also has some great options for gravel bikes. One of the best off road routes for any gravel or mtb biker, is the route along the Ter River.

Via Verde to the Ter River Trail

You can access this route straight from Girona and ride west along the river. Take the "Via Verde" or the greenway west out of Girona along the C752. Cross the river and turn left onto Carratera de la Cellera al Pantà de Susqueda.

Cycle along this road until you cross back onto the other side of the river and merge onto Carratera de la Presa. This will eventually merge into the off-road gravel path that runs along the river.

This route is relatively easy in terms climbs, not to mention it's safe and fun! This could be a great route to do with kids if you plan to cycle with the whole family.

Gravel Bike Rentals in Girona

The benefit of a gravel bike rental is that you get all of the comfort and endurance of a racing bike with the drop down handlebar, even though you sacrifice some of the speed for the flexibility of cycling on various terrains.
